生平
1970年出生于牙買加的女歌手Diana King以擔(dān)任幕后和聲進(jìn)入歌壇，1994年因出現(xiàn)在英國雷鬼團(tuán)體Steel Pulse和饒舌歌手Notorious B.I.G.的專輯中而受到注意獲得一紙合同。
1995年的"Shy Guy"隨著威爾．史密斯主演的【絕地戰(zhàn)警】（Bad Boys）電影賣座之故成為英美兩地的暢銷單曲，此曲同時(shí)收錄在Diana King自己的專輯「Tougher Than Love」里，Diana終于從幕后成功走向臺前。1997年茱莉亞．羅勃茲的喜劇片【新娘不是我】（My Best Friendu2019s Wedding）中出現(xiàn)另一首Diana King的演唱"I Say A Little Prayer"，雖是老歌新唱但再次受到歌迷的喜愛。
Diana King形容她2002年的專輯「Respect」是「頭一次得以完全自由創(chuàng)作的作品，里面的音樂就是在描寫我自己�！谷诤涎蕾I加的雷鬼音樂、黑人流行的節(jié)奏與藍(lán)調(diào)加上作曲填詞的功力使Diana King不僅是位樂風(fēng)明確的歌手，同時(shí)也是位優(yōu)秀的敘事高手。
輕快節(jié)奏的"Summer Breezin’"是Diana憶起與真實(shí)生活里的好友相處的夏日歡樂時(shí)光；"Suga, Suga"講的是年輕女孩想找個(gè)糖果老爹的故事，找到有錢的男人，女孩就不用辛苦工作又有錢花，是不是時(shí)下許多女生的心愿？"Mi Lova"則是Diana私人的感情世界，講的是她的愛人…；"The Real S**t"更是Diana成長過程的自我剖析，或許身為十五個(gè)小孩之一培養(yǎng)出叛逆、獨(dú)立、想要與眾不同的個(gè)性使周遭人不知如何面對這個(gè)「問題小孩」，而Diana在那段成長歲月唯一撫慰心靈者唯有歌唱而已。從這些歌曲不難看出這張「Respect」專輯有歡樂、有自省，Diana以一貫雷鬼加節(jié)奏藍(lán)調(diào)節(jié)拍唱出關(guān)于生命與愛的故事。

不僅如此，專輯中的其他曲目也頗為精彩。例如翻唱于Chaka Khan1983年全美流行單曲[Ainu2019t Nobody]，使得這首傳唱至今的名曲帶著濃濃的Reggae風(fēng)韻。而天后級人物Celine Dion也在數(shù)年后演繹了Diana King此張專輯的中的一首歌，就是收錄在[Let’s Talk About Love]中那首膾炙人口的[Treat Her Like a Lady]。
雖然這張專輯的發(fā)行已經(jīng)是10年前的事情了~但是專輯中的曲目在現(xiàn)在聽來還是如此的新鮮與時(shí)髦。
