從影前就讀于加州大學，當時派拉蒙與環(huán)球爭相邀請她加盟，最后是經(jīng)過電影學會裁決才受聘環(huán)球公司的。1932年正式拍片，40年代中起開始隱退，后多參加戲劇表演，90年代以后以老年角色再度出演電影，代表作：《女人街》、《后街》、《隱身人》等。1997年憑借出演《泰坦尼克號》中晚年Rose一角，獲得第七十屆奧斯卡最佳女配角提名，當年奧斯卡頒獎禮上，Gloria Frances配戴著美倫美煥的“海洋之心”，由Harry Winson設計，展現(xiàn)了“泰坦尼克”號的世紀浪漫。
