1966年，鮑德溫出生在美國紐約州紐約市納蘇縣，他的母親卡羅曾因為乳腺癌切除雙乳房；他的父親亞歷山大·鮑德溫死于肺癌。 鮑德溫是家中最小的，他的兄弟有著名演員亞歷克，丹尼爾和威廉，有時被稱為“鮑德溫兄弟”。鮑德溫出生在一個信奉天主教的家庭，他們具有愛爾蘭，英格蘭和法國血統(tǒng)。 鮑德溫還有2個姐妹，一個叫伊麗莎白，一個叫簡薩。
