個人履歷
1984年 南京大學(xué)大氣科學(xué)系本科畢業(yè)。
1984年7月在 國家氣象中心從事氣候分析工作。
1987-1990年期間在 南京大學(xué)攻讀碩士研究生。
1990年3月在國家氣象中心從事氣候診斷工作。
1993年被評為高級工程師。
1993年獲國家氣象局科技進(jìn)步獎二等獎
1993-1994年赴美國NOAA參加全球氣候變化研究。
1998年被聘為中國氣象科學(xué)研究院研究生部碩士生導(dǎo)師。
1999年6月被聘為正研究級高級工程師。
2001年4-7月，到英國哈德萊氣候預(yù)測與研究中心參加氣候研究。
2002-2004年任國家氣候中心首席氣候診斷專家。
2003年1-3月在加拿大氣象局參加降水變化研究。
2003年獲國家科技進(jìn)步一等獎
2004年-2009年任中國氣象局預(yù)測減災(zāi)司司長、中國氣象局新聞發(fā)言人。
研究項目
翟盤茂曾主持和參加過國家級研究課題和國際合作研究項目10多項。主持建立了我國新一代氣候診斷業(yè)務(wù)系統(tǒng)，建立了我國ENSO監(jiān)測和預(yù)測業(yè)務(wù)系統(tǒng)，在氣候診斷、大氣水分和能量循環(huán)、極端天氣氣候事件變化、ENSO監(jiān)測和預(yù)測等方面作過許多研究，作為主要作者參加了IPCC第四次科學(xué)評估報告編寫。
現(xiàn)主持自然科學(xué)基金項目《近50年中國降水頻率、強(qiáng)度和總量變化》、參加973項目“北方干旱化與人類適應(yīng)”等項目的研究工作。
