Pharoahe Monch，原名Tory Donald Jamerson，1972年10月31日出生于紐約皇后區(qū)。座位一個(gè)美國(guó)hip hop藝人，聞名于其復(fù)句式和多音節(jié)押韻方式。（這一點(diǎn)可以從參考RAKIM。）

Pharoahe Monch的名字來源于猴子玩具，Monchhichis。Monch在剪了一個(gè)很挫的發(fā)型后看起來就像黑猩猩"，高中學(xué)校的女生都開始叫他"Mon Chi Chi"，后來在簡(jiǎn)短后成為了“Monch”。Monch在遇見了組成Organized Konfusion的搭檔Prince Po后就舍棄了Pharoahe的名字前綴。而Pharaoh是他在學(xué)習(xí)埃及的時(shí)候選的。

Monch作為和Prince Poetry一起搭檔的組合Organized Konfusion一員，一共以組合的名義發(fā)行了三張專輯。The self-titled Organized Konfusion ，The Extinction Agenda and The Equinox。他們自己也制作了這三張專輯中大部分的歌曲。所有專輯都收到了肯定的評(píng)論，但銷量卻不盡人意。于是，組合在97年錄制完最后一張專輯The Equinox后由Prince Poetry拒絕了組合的重新組合而徹底解散了。

Pharoahe Monch 于是和獨(dú)立唱片公司Rawkus Records簽約。先前是座位客串嘉賓出現(xiàn)在和一系列Rawkus專輯里，例如最暢銷專輯，Soundbombing2，接著Monch的首張個(gè)人專輯 Internal Affairs于1999年發(fā)行。這張專輯的第一支單曲 Simon Says，是1999重點(diǎn)打榜歌曲。接著因?yàn)樗�被控告使用了Godzilla的采樣作為伴奏，然后被強(qiáng)迫將這首這從專輯中移出。2001年他的另一首單曲Got You同樣是重點(diǎn)打榜歌曲，但最終還是銷量欠佳。2003年，Pharoahe發(fā)行了他再Rawkus Records里最有一張單曲，Agent Orange，一首由戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)產(chǎn)生靈感的歌曲，重現(xiàn)了1991年Organized Konfusion 的歌曲"Releasing Hypnotical Gases"。

Pharoahe的單曲“Simon Says”也出現(xiàn)在2000年電影查理的天使。在影片中Sam Rockwell在城堡上點(diǎn)燃一只香煙，一手抓住Drew Barrymore作為人質(zhì)的時(shí)候，觀眾可以強(qiáng)烈感受到這首歌和那令人心動(dòng)的節(jié)奏。另外，Pharoahe的單曲“Right Here”和“Simon Says”也出現(xiàn)在電影Boiler Room。

Pharaoche同時(shí)也和說唱團(tuán)體THE HRSUM有著聯(lián)系，雖然不是這個(gè)四人團(tuán)體的成員，他仍一致堅(jiān)持如果有一天團(tuán)體要擴(kuò)張的話他一定要加入進(jìn)去。

有傳言說他的下一張專輯，Innervisions，將烙上Denaun Porter’s旗下新的Shady Records的Runyon Ave烙印。但是顯然謠言以不攻自破。Monch已經(jīng)聲明和Wu-Tang Clan, David Banner以及Terror Squad的公司Street Records Corporation簽約。而計(jì)劃于2006年末發(fā)行的專輯也被推遲到2007年4月。新專輯名為Desire,Monch討論到這張專輯“它更多的像靈歌，福音，一個(gè)全新的我的聲音。”新專輯的主打單曲是其本人親手曹早制作的“Push”和“Let’s Go”。MV及單曲CD也于2006年9樂發(fā)行。Monch在2007年2月的布魯克林音樂節(jié)上發(fā)行了新的MV“When the Gun Draws”。

在說唱界聲名顯赫的Diddy的最新專輯Press Play，Monch參與到The Future的制作并作詞，同時(shí)于Mobb Deep的Havoc一起也寫了“Hold Up”。他所作詞明顯的涵蓋了不僅是內(nèi)容更是照顧了Diddy的押韻。

1997年《Equinox》之后，Organized Konfusion因?yàn)榕c如潮好評(píng)不相稱的糟糕推廣終于分解，開始了各自的solo生涯。團(tuán)體中較為引人注目的Pharoahe Monch很快就簽約rawkus，發(fā)行了自己的專輯《Internal Affairs》，從封面就可以看出這是一張憤怒的硬核說唱專輯，Pharoahe快速如機(jī)關(guān)槍的flow和廣闊的詞匯量在這張專輯中展露無疑，在專輯中有Canibus和M.O.P.等硬核強(qiáng)人參與，特別是單曲“Simon Says”一曲及其remix（邀到Lady Luck，Redman，Method Man，Shabaam Shadeeq和Busta Rhymes客串）值得銘記。而由Diamond D制作、小夜曲般的“The Light”和“The Truth”（由Common和Talib Kweli相助）兩曲則是專輯的柔美一面。遺憾地是因?yàn)椴蓸影鏅?quán)方面的問題，這張經(jīng)典專輯幾乎剛出版不久就成為絕版。

2007年6月26日，離開人們實(shí)現(xiàn)達(dá)8年之久的麥克風(fēng)怪獸Pharoahe Monch和他個(gè)人第二張專輯《Desire》回來了，期間經(jīng)歷了Rawkus的倒閉，被Aftermath冷藏，Pharoahe的熱情卻絲毫沒有減退，2006年秋天放出的同名曲“Desire”由The Alchemist制作，讓人足夠放心Pharoahe并沒有退步。專輯中精彩的遠(yuǎn)不只有這首歌，翻唱公敵名曲的“Welcome to the Terrodome”，70年代funk風(fēng)的“Body Baby”，Organized Konfusion第二張《Stress：Extinction Agenda》中名曲“Stray Bullet”后續(xù)篇的“When The Gun Draws”以及與Erykah Badu合作的“Hold On”都是專輯的亮點(diǎn)。值得一提的是，來自D12的Mr.Porter在這張里相當(dāng)出彩，不但擔(dān)任了一部分背景聲，而且制作也將Dr.Dre學(xué)得十足到位。
