美國導(dǎo)演約翰-蘭迪斯，18歲便從高中退學(xué)，在20世紀(jì)�？怂构�司的郵件收發(fā)室里當(dāng)上了一名小工，隨后開始在一些影片里跑龍?zhí)�，或是�?dān)當(dāng)特技演員。21歲這年，蘭迪斯通過一個(gè)偶然的機(jī)會，得到了B級恐怖片《次品》的導(dǎo)演機(jī)會，豈料這部成本超低的小制作電影，竟然收獲了600萬美元的票房，從此蘭德斯便打算從事導(dǎo)演行當(dāng)。

1980年，蘭迪斯以無厘頭喜劇片《福祿雙霸天》威震江湖，這部由約翰·貝魯什和丹·艾克羅伊德兩大諧星主演的電影，成為了美國耍寶賤俗喜劇的范本。在本片票房大獲成功之后，蘭迪斯又把目光轉(zhuǎn)向了恐怖片領(lǐng)域，《美國狼人在倫敦》和《陰陽魔界》的連軸發(fā)力，讓蘭迪斯成為了80年代初頗受歡迎的商業(yè)片導(dǎo)演�！睹绹�狼人在倫敦》在化裝水平上達(dá)到了繼《星球大戰(zhàn)》之后的另一種極致，《陰陽魔界》中四段頗有哲理的小故事則展現(xiàn)出了蘭迪斯的非凡想象力。緊接著的《神勇三蛟龍》和《皇家密殺令》又讓他回到了喜劇電影的創(chuàng)作高峰，史蒂夫-馬丁等笑星推向了前臺。由于蘭迪斯在好萊塢的名氣如日中天，1989年，威尼斯國際電影節(jié)向他發(fā)出邀請，讓他第一次擔(dān)當(dāng)了評審團(tuán)成員，所以今年蘭迪斯的第二次光臨水城。

有趣的是，整個(gè)80年代順風(fēng)順?biāo)�的蘭迪斯，進(jìn)入90年代后卻曾一度變成了爛片魔王，1992年與史泰龍合作的《龍哥你好也》殺入了金酸莓最差導(dǎo)演決賽圈；1995年與艾迪-墨菲合作的《比弗利山警探3》讓他再次入圍這一獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)；1996年的《笨人一族》第三次為蘭迪斯帶來難堪。好在那段時(shí)間他拍攝的電視劇《發(fā)夢》獲得了相當(dāng)不俗的成績，彌補(bǔ)了他在電影領(lǐng)域的尷尬。1997年，一部《美國狼人在紐約》讓蘭迪斯恢復(fù)了人氣，之后又拍出了《福祿雙霸天2000》。目前，蘭迪斯正在籌拍新片《史詩的篇幅》（EpicProportions）。
