1974年畢業(yè)于潮州金山中學(xué)，華南工學(xué)院（現(xiàn)華南理工大學(xué)）無線電工程系77級本科生，1990年先后在香港城市大學(xué)、香港理工大學(xué)、新西蘭Otago大學(xué)、 Auckland理工大學(xué)及美國硅谷高科技界從事教學(xué)及科研工作，先后獲得無線電技術(shù)工學(xué)學(xué)士、電路與系統(tǒng)工學(xué)碩士、電子工程哲學(xué)博士等學(xué)位。

現(xiàn)任北京大學(xué)教授/博士生導(dǎo)師, 北京大學(xué)通信與信息安全實驗室（深圳）主任、北京大學(xué)下一代通信網(wǎng)絡(luò)（NGN）實驗室（深圳）主任，美國TI－北京大學(xué)數(shù)字信號處理聯(lián)合實驗室主任；香港城市大學(xué)電子工程系兼職教授、博士生導(dǎo)師。國際電氣與電子工程師學(xué)會（IEEE）高級會員、中國電子學(xué)會會士（Fellow）、中國通信學(xué)會高級會員。國際標(biāo)準(zhǔn)組織ISO/IEC/SC6 中國歸口單位專家組成員，中國寬帶無線IP標(biāo)準(zhǔn)工作組標(biāo)準(zhǔn)專家組成員，深圳信息化專家委委員，深圳醫(yī)療信息化專家組委員。曾獲廣東省高�？萍歼M步一等獎，廣東省自然科學(xué)三等獎，“深圳市人才驛站—雙百計劃”人才，及地方領(lǐng)軍人才稱號，連續(xù)4年獲工業(yè)和信息化部寬帶無線IP標(biāo)準(zhǔn)工作組標(biāo)準(zhǔn)突出貢獻獎，北京大學(xué)優(yōu)秀班主任獎，北京大學(xué)深圳研究生院優(yōu)秀教師獎，北京大學(xué)深圳研究生院優(yōu)秀科研獎。從事通信與信息安全、新媒體信號處理，無線移動通信的教學(xué)與科研工作。
