人物經(jīng)歷
他到了丹佛，在里吉斯學院學習醫(yī)學，但因為攜帶大麻被捕，中途退學。隨后，他和伙伴丹·艾克洛德，吉爾達·拉德納以及約翰·貝魯希一起加入《全國諷刺電臺一小時》（National Lampoon Radio Hour）欄目。后來，其他三名伙伴成為《周六夜現(xiàn)場秀》（Saturday Night Live）節(jié)目創(chuàng)辦人，他加入了《霍華德·考塞爾周六夜現(xiàn)場秀》（Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell）節(jié)目。
演藝經(jīng)歷
演藝1979年，比爾·默瑞出演第一部影片《肉丸》（Meatballs），從此一發(fā)不可收拾。
隨著1982年的《杜絲先生》和1984年的《捉鬼敢死隊》的賣座成功，比爾·默瑞一躍成為80年代炙手可熱的喜劇明星。
1990年，比爾·默瑞開始嘗試執(zhí)導，影片《兩男一女三逃犯》的成績尚可。而后幾年的喜劇作品，維持了其一貫的個人風格。在影片《霹靂天使》中也有不錯的表現(xiàn)。
2003年，比爾·默瑞主演了女導演索菲亞-科波拉(Sofia Coppola）小成本電影《迷失東京》（Lost in Translation），并憑此片入圍第76屆奧斯卡金像獎最佳男主角。
2018年3月23日，參與配音的電影《犬之島》在北美上映。7月，參演喜劇電影《喪尸未逝》。

前任“周末夜現(xiàn)場”作家瑪格麗特·杭菲特說過墨菲和比爾·默里是演藝史上最有天分的兩個人。墨菲的生父在他很小的時候就去世了。比爾·默里，是被比爾的媽媽，莉蓮·墨菲，還有他的父親，外祖母和外祖父——一個電話公司退休雇員，撫養(yǎng)大的。
