Akia是2002年環(huán)球推出的新人，迷一般的女人！她的首支也是唯一一支單曲《California》在Urban和跨界電臺(tái)的點(diǎn)播率超過450萬次。說她神秘是因?yàn)樵诘?張專集也是唯一的1張發(fā)行后 便銷聲匿跡了。雖然是隸屬環(huán)球唱片的藝人，但在環(huán)球的藝人庫里卻找不到她。官網(wǎng)的最后更新時(shí)間是03年,此后便再也沒有動(dòng)向。當(dāng)2003年暑期她的首張EP《Atruprncss》發(fā)行后，一切便戛然而止。 《Atruprncss》是一張什么樣的EP？簡單的說，它爽耳，好聽，流暢，動(dòng)感。就是這樣一張EP，卻走進(jìn)萬劫不復(fù)的境地，遭遇無人問津的尷尬，是無人欣賞，還是要從此懷疑美國人的審美？換個(gè)角度聽，也許便可從中得到答案。 《Atruprncss》有多好聽實(shí)在無需多講，每首歌的旋律都相當(dāng)養(yǎng)耳誘人，幾乎將流行R&B專輯的可聽度提升到一個(gè)令人側(cè)目的地步。但是完美的旋律并不是救世主，在這個(gè)宣揚(yáng)個(gè)性的年代，《Atruprncss》中略顯過時(shí)的小女生情歌已經(jīng)很難吸引到喜新厭舊的青少年。在2003年，Ashanti所引領(lǐng)的Hip-Hop節(jié)奏至上的潮流已經(jīng)成為未來R&B的重要發(fā)展方向，這股風(fēng)潮引來無數(shù)人競相跟隨，Akia卻還唱著流行R&B，確實(shí)有些跟不上時(shí)代。傳統(tǒng)R&B的鼎盛時(shí)期已經(jīng)不復(fù)存在，當(dāng)Hip-Hop節(jié)奏主導(dǎo)著R&B的流行走向時(shí)，以旋律為重中之重的傳統(tǒng)R&B似乎淪落到一個(gè)二線的位置。 Akia的聲音甜美可人，力度柔軟，與樂壇天后Janet有些許相似。本身辨識(shí)度并不算很好，加上過于流暢的歌曲旋律，聽罷其聲音反而無法留下任何印象。旋律搶足了Akia本身的風(fēng)頭，歌曲本身成為震撼聽眾耳膜的因素，而不是Akia，這就是所謂的歌紅人不紅吧。雖然Akia聲線柔美，但是個(gè)性全無，而且在《Atruprncss》中完全聽不出她有何過人的唱功，想在眾多的名字中記住Akia，仿佛成為一件難事。作為一個(gè)歌手，無法讓聽眾認(rèn)識(shí)她的聲音，便注定了她的失敗。不夸張地說，Akia演唱著所有歌手都能演唱的歌曲，任何女歌手都能成為這些旋律的主人。 至于環(huán)球的營銷策略，似乎更讓人置疑�！禖alifornia》的單曲CD早在2002年10月便已發(fā)行，而這首歌在2003年6月才在電臺(tái)走紅，《Atruprncss》緊隨著在8月草草發(fā)行，此后便再無下文。為何單曲發(fā)行和送上電臺(tái)的時(shí)間要相差如此之遠(yuǎn)？為何在單曲發(fā)行一年后僅僅發(fā)行一張只有6首歌的EP？實(shí)在讓人匪夷所思。也許環(huán)球預(yù)見Akia并不會(huì)帶來明朗商業(yè)回報(bào)而匆匆履約，也許Akia和環(huán)球之間產(chǎn)生了分歧，這就又回到了那個(gè)關(guān)于音樂和商業(yè)的老問題�！禖alifornia》的封面是一片遲暮的夕陽街景，《Atruprncss》封面上的Akia樸素簡潔，泛黃的色調(diào)顯得有那么些土氣，環(huán)球作為一個(gè)國際大廠，又怎會(huì)用如此粗糙拙劣的手法進(jìn)行包裝。無法吸引《Atruprncss》購買者的眼球，聆聽便無從談起。Akia看起來，倒像是個(gè)獨(dú)立廠牌的藝人。
