張傳溪1982年畢業(yè)于 浙江農(nóng)業(yè)大學植保系，1985年在同校獲 昆蟲學專業(yè)碩士學位，并留校任教。1994-1997年在 中國科學院 生物化學研究所在職從事 博士學位論文工作，獲理學博士學位。博士學位論文于2000年被評為全國優(yōu)秀博士學位論文。1998年晉升浙江大學教授。兼任本校生命科學院和生物化學與分子生物學博士生導師。2001-2003年任 日本學術(shù)振興會和 愛媛大學CMES特別研究員。

先后在《 Virology》、《BMC Genomics》等國內(nèi)外學術(shù)刊物上發(fā)表論文100余篇（其中 SCI收錄34篇），書著有《昆蟲桿狀病毒ph、pk基因分析和人EPO基因在桿狀病毒-昆蟲系統(tǒng)中的表達》（ 高等教育出版社）等2本，參編4本。已申請國家發(fā)明專利9項，已授權(quán)4項。

入選 浙江省“151人才工程”。曾被授予浙江省優(yōu)秀教師稱號。美國國家自然科學基金會（ NSF）評審專家、《 微生物學報》和《中國 病毒學》編委。

2015年，張傳溪課題組以褐飛虱為模型，自主設(shè)計和研究，發(fā)現(xiàn)了昆蟲長短翅型可塑性發(fā)育的分子機制，兩個同源性很高的褐飛虱胰島素受體在長、短翅分化中起著“開關(guān)”作用。相關(guān)論文于當?shù)貢r間3月18日發(fā)表在《自然》雜志上。

實驗室主要從事昆蟲分子生物學和動物病毒分子生物學與 基因工程的研究。本分子生物學實驗室研究的目標是闡明昆蟲和病毒重要基因的特性和功能及其利用。目前正在進行的主要研究項目和方向包括：

1．家蠶重要經(jīng)濟性狀功能基因研究。國家“863”計劃。

2．昆蟲 乙酰膽堿 酯酶基因及表達產(chǎn)物在藥效活性評價中應(yīng)用。 國家重點基礎(chǔ)研究發(fā)展計劃（973計劃）子項目。

3．BmNPV ODV囊膜蛋白在家蠶中腸細胞上受體基因的研究。 國家自然科學基金。

4．家蠶2種類型乙酰膽堿酯酶基因的特性與生物學功能比較。國家自然科學基金。

5．以桿狀病毒為載體，以昆蟲細胞和家蠶為生物 反應(yīng)器，表達生產(chǎn)人與經(jīng)濟動物藥用 多肽和科學研究用蛋白；氫菌基因工程（中意國際合作項目、國內(nèi)合作項目、浙江省科技廳項目；“863”探索）。
