生平簡介
在夏威夷出生，因家境貧窮，只在夏威夷大學念了一年戲劇，即在《夏威夷》一片中當臨時演員。其后到紐約發(fā)展，開始在俱樂部獻唱。事業(yè)上的突破是當上了百老匯歌舞劇《屋頂上的提琴手》的伴唱女郎，她逐漸爬上此劇的女演員。由于說學逗唱樣樣精通，使她在紐約的夜總會贏得“喜劇皇后”之譽，并曾獲艾美獎和東尼獎的肯定。早在1971年就出演過喜劇片《Thorn, The》，直到1979年方出演第二部電影作品《歌聲淚痕》（玫瑰），即得到奧斯卡最佳女主角提名，該片的主題曲唱片使她獲葛萊美獎最佳女歌星。1991年演出《昨日·今日·永遠》再度入圍奧斯卡最佳女主角。她的喜劇演出深入人心，但也會演《情比姊妹深》這種催人淚下的文藝片。2000年主演有神秘偵探片《小鎮(zhèn)疑云》。
2019年10月11日，參與配音的動畫電影《亞當斯一家》在北美上映。
