1986年本科畢業(yè)于江蘇師范大學(xué)（原徐州師范大學(xué)）數(shù)學(xué)系，獲理學(xué)學(xué)士學(xué)位；

1989年碩士畢業(yè)于鄭州大學(xué)基礎(chǔ)數(shù)學(xué)專業(yè)，獲理學(xué)碩士學(xué)位；

1997年博士畢業(yè)于復(fù)旦大學(xué)基礎(chǔ)數(shù)學(xué)專業(yè)，獲理學(xué)博士學(xué)位。博士論文獲2000年全國(guó)優(yōu)秀博士論文。

1989年7月起在江蘇師范大學(xué)工作至今。

期間1998年-2001年多次在香港城市大學(xué)訪問(wèn)研究，

2001年-2002年獲德國(guó)洪堡基金在德國(guó)Paderborn大學(xué)訪問(wèn)研究一年，

2008年以高級(jí)訪問(wèn)學(xué)者身份在美國(guó)南佛羅里達(dá)大學(xué)訪問(wèn)研究。

1989年破格晉升為副教授，

2001年破格晉升為教授。

2003年5月至2004年3月?lián)�任�?shù)學(xué)系主任；

2004年3月至2007年9月?lián)�任研究生處處長(zhǎng)；

2007年9月起至今擔(dān)任江蘇師范大學(xué)副校長(zhǎng)。

2017年6月19日，周汝光擬任江蘇省屬本科院校校（院）長(zhǎng)。

長(zhǎng)期從事孤立子與可積系統(tǒng)的數(shù)學(xué)理論研究，已發(fā)表論文60余篇， SCI收錄50余篇。參加國(guó)家攀登計(jì)劃“非線性科學(xué)”項(xiàng)目和國(guó)家重點(diǎn)基礎(chǔ)研究發(fā)展規(guī)劃項(xiàng)目“非線性科學(xué)中的若干前沿問(wèn)題”項(xiàng)目各1項(xiàng)，主持完成國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金4項(xiàng)，教育部“新世紀(jì)優(yōu)秀人才支持計(jì)劃”項(xiàng)目1項(xiàng)，教育部高等學(xué)校全國(guó)優(yōu)秀博士學(xué)位論文作者專項(xiàng)資金項(xiàng)目1項(xiàng)，教育部留學(xué)回國(guó)人員科研基金1項(xiàng)，教育部?jī)?yōu)秀青年教師資助計(jì)劃項(xiàng)目1項(xiàng)，江蘇省“青藍(lán)工程”專項(xiàng)資助計(jì)劃項(xiàng)目1項(xiàng)，參加江蘇省教委自然科學(xué)基金項(xiàng)目1項(xiàng)。研究成果獲2012年度教育部高等學(xué)校科學(xué)研究?jī)?yōu)秀成果獎(jiǎng)二等獎(jiǎng)。參與完成江蘇省人民政府高等教育教學(xué)成果二等獎(jiǎng)1項(xiàng)。

先后被確定為教育部“新世紀(jì)優(yōu)秀人才支持計(jì)劃”人選、“江蘇省333新世紀(jì)科學(xué)技術(shù)帶頭人培養(yǎng)工程”培養(yǎng)人選第三層次培養(yǎng)對(duì)象、江蘇省“333高層次人才培養(yǎng)工程”首批中青年科學(xué)技術(shù)帶頭人、江蘇省教委“普通高等學(xué)�？缡兰o(jì)學(xué)術(shù)帶頭人”培養(yǎng)人選。2004年享受國(guó)務(wù)院頒發(fā)的政府特殊津貼。2001年被評(píng)為“江蘇省高等學(xué)校優(yōu)秀共產(chǎn)黨員”，被授予“江蘇省勞動(dòng)模范”稱號(hào)，2003年獲全國(guó)五一勞動(dòng)獎(jiǎng)?wù)拢?005年被授予“全國(guó)先進(jìn)工作者稱號(hào)”。
