簡介
吳自英（1943 - ）古琴藝術(shù)家，原居上海，現(xiàn)居美國西雅圖。
吳自英承傳于二十世紀(jì)多名古琴前輩大師，是王吉儒，吳景略，查阜西，孫宗彭，徐立蓀，顧梅羹的嫡傳子弟。吳自英琴藝集合梅庵派和吳派之長，琴風(fēng)古樸沉穩(wěn)，優(yōu)雅抒情。
移居美國之前，曾任上海師范大學(xué)中國傳統(tǒng)音樂的教授，上海琴社社長。2001年至2003年，任華盛頓大學(xué)(The University of Washington, UW)，音樂學(xué)院民族音樂學(xué)訪問駐校藝術(shù)家。在海外，吳自英出席于眾多的音樂節(jié)和演出，傳播著以古琴為代表的中國文化。
吳自英教授也傳授琵琶等樂器，他同時也是一名收藏家。對于繪畫，雕塑等藝術(shù)有極高的鑒賞能力。對于古琴藝術(shù)，他長于演奏，博采眾長，并有豐富的修復(fù)古琴的經(jīng)驗。他對中國音樂的精神有深厚的理解，以他獨特，生動地教學(xué)方式，讓更多的民族了解古琴，了解中國藝術(shù)，了解中國人通過古琴音樂表達的品格和處世心態(tài)。
吳自英教授現(xiàn)仍居住于西雅圖，教學(xué)和演奏古琴、琵琶藝術(shù)，并修復(fù)中國傳統(tǒng)樂器。
