　　Flo Rida(這個名字的讀法是Flow Rider)的藝名即來源于他出生的地方——佛羅里達州(Florida)，同時他還是一個海地后裔。本名Tramar Dillard的他1979年9月17號出生于佛羅里達的奧帕洛卡，在佛羅里達的卡羅爾城長大。

Dillard was born December 16, 1979 in the 16th Street projects of the Carol City neighborhood of Miami Gardens, Florida.

As a teenager, Dillard worked with local rap group 2 Live Crew and formed his own amateur group with some friends called the sugar hill gang.

His work with 2 Live Crew member Fresh Kid Ice attracted attention of DeVante Swing, a member of the band Jodeci.

However, he was rejected by several of the major labels, so he sought many other jobs outside of music.

After graduating from high school in 1998, he studied international business management at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for two years and attended Barry University for two months; Flo Rida justified dropping out of college by pursuing a music career He returned to his home state of Florida to continue pursuing his music career after receiving a phone call from a representative of the independent label Poe Boy Entertainment.Dillard signed with Poe Boy in 2007, and began affiliating himself with other Florida rappers, such as Rick Ross, Trina, T-Pain and Trick Daddy.

A promotional street single entitled "Birthday", featuring Rick Ross, was his first significant release. He would make his mainstream debut with the song "B*tch I’m from Dade County" on DJ Khaled’s album We the Best, which also had Trick Daddy, Trina, Rick Ross, Brisco, C-Ride, and Dre.

　　2006年加入該唱片公司后，F(xiàn)lo Rida與當?shù)氐脑S多大牌開始了合作，如Rick Ross,Trina以及Trick Daddy。正是與Rick Ross合作的一曲“Birthday”獲得了成功，吸引了樂迷的注意力。而另一首頗受好評的歌曲則是來源于DJ Khaled的專輯《We the Best》中的“Bitch I’m from Dade County”。而Flo Rida真正的開始走紅則是憑借著與T-Pain合作的一首打榜歌曲“Low”，這首歌曲來源于他的第一張專輯《Mail On Sunday》，并在billboard單曲榜上取得了第一名的好成績。走紅后Flo Rida成為了各大明星專輯中邀約的對象，包括Rick Ross,Birdman,Lil Wayne,Trey Songz,Yung Joc, Trina,Brisco以及Akon，甚至連Madonna的單曲“4 Minutes”的混音版也特別請到他上陣。 　

　　Flo Rida的第二張個人專輯《R.O.O.T.S.》于2009年3月31日發(fā)行，R.O.O.T.S.的意思是Routes of Overcoming the Struggle(克服難關的路程)。專輯制作人包括J Rock, Dr. Luke和DJ Montay。而Flo Rida更是打破了第二張專輯一定無法超越第一張專輯的魔咒，其中三首主打歌幾乎每首都能超過他第一張專輯內(nèi)為他帶來大把鈔票的“Low”，R.O.O.T.S.主打《Right Round》，首周即開出636000次的數(shù)位銷售天量，至今無人能打破。

　　2010年，F(xiàn)lo Rida的第三張作品《Only One Flo (Part 1)》，搭配華裔導演朱浩偉掌鏡的首部3D街舞電影《舞力全開3D》主題曲《Club Can’t Handle Me》，雙霸英倫流行+舞曲榜冠軍，可謂一時無兩。

　　2012年6月，F(xiàn)lo Rida推出的單曲《Whistle》，憑著上耳的曲調(diào)，于2012年8月榮登Billboard單曲榜首位。這首足以讓美女們賣力吹響口中哨的《Whistle》，以清脆吉他播弦和口哨聲拉啟序幕，由麥當娜、黑眼豆豆指定鬼才 DJ Frank-E 監(jiān)控，走著中板的舒緩舞曲旋律，記載令人臉紅心跳的故事，絕對是樂事一件。另外，《Whistle》收錄在他第四張專輯《Only One Rida (Part 2)》 中。（與《Only One Flo (Part 1)》兩個專輯的最后單詞放在一起，是Flo Rida的名字)。
