戴安娜出生于倫敦，在她8歲的時(shí)候，盡管她的閱讀障礙太嚴(yán)重，但她還是認(rèn)為自己能成為一個(gè)作家，并且從她12歲開(kāi)始寫(xiě)起小說(shuō)。在她的家中，幾乎沒(méi)有供孩子閱讀的書(shū)，所以戴安娜就親自給自己和自己的兩個(gè)妹妹寫(xiě)書(shū)。她在開(kāi)始全職寫(xiě)作前，在牛津郡的圣安妮學(xué)院獲得了文學(xué)學(xué)士（Bachelor of Arts degree）的證書(shū)。
她的小說(shuō)獲得過(guò)許多獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)。Howl’s Moving Castle被宮崎駿改編，成為有名的同名動(dòng)漫電影<哈爾的移動(dòng)城堡>
她現(xiàn)在和她的中世紀(jì)研究學(xué)家丈夫居住在英格蘭布里斯托的J.A Burrow，他們有三個(gè)已經(jīng)成年的兒子和5個(gè)孫子孫女。
