戴安娜出生于倫敦，在她8歲的時候，盡管她的閱讀障礙太嚴重，但她還是認為自己能成為一個作家，并且從她12歲開始寫起小說。在她的家中，幾乎沒有供孩子閱讀的書，所以戴安娜就親自給自己和自己的兩個妹妹寫書。她在開始全職寫作前，在牛津郡的圣安妮學院獲得了文學學士（Bachelor of Arts degree）的證書。
她的小說獲得過許多獎項。Howl’s Moving Castle被宮崎駿改編，成為有名的同名動漫電影<哈爾的移動城堡>
她現(xiàn)在和她的中世紀研究學家丈夫居住在英格蘭布里斯托的J.A Burrow，他們有三個已經成年的兒子和5個孫子孫女。

特點
戴安娜的寫作特點就是幽默。受她那位中世紀研究學者丈夫的影響，問題也有些哥特風，與J.K Rowling的寫作特點相似。文中人物的名字必然有深意。特別是the game中，幾乎每個人物的名字都象征著一個神。她的作品范疇應屬于魔幻小說。和Eva Ibbotson一樣，她們的作品都老少皆宜，而且都有濃郁的英倫色彩。

戴安娜的書沒有好的中文譯本，建議閱讀英文原版。因為翻譯實在太粗糙。并且英文原版的英國文學氣息更加濃厚。
