Josef Ackermann Josef Ackermann (born 1948, Swiss Citizen) is Chairman of the Management Board and the Group Executive Committee of Deutsche Bank. In March 2012 he was elected Chairman of the Boad of Directors of Zurich Insurance Group, resuming this role from June 1, 2012 when he will step down as Deutsche Banku2019s Chairman. In 1996, Ackermann joined the Board of Managing Directors of Deutsche Bank, where he was responsible for the investment banking division. He became Spokesman of the Management Board and Chairman of the Group Executive committee in 2002. Prior to Deutsche Bank, he was President of Schweizerische Kreditanstalt (todayu2019s Credit Suisse). He studied economics and social science at the University of St. Gallen and received his PhD in 1977. Mr. Ackermann is second deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens and non-executive Member of the Board of Directors of Royal Dutch Shell. He is Chairman of the Institute of International Finance, co-Chairman of the World Economic Forum, Chairman of the St. Gallen Foundation for International Studies, Chairman of the Goethe-Instituteu2019s Business and Industry Advisory Board, Honorary Senate member of the Foundation Lindau Nobelprizewinners Meetings at Lake Constance and Advisory Director of the Metropolitan Opera New York among many further mandates. In 2007, Mr. Ackermann accepted an appointment as visiting professor in finance at the London School of Economics. In July 2008, he was appointed Honorary Professor at Frankfurtu2019s Johann Wolfgang Goethe University.
Furthermore, he is an Honorary Fellow of the London Business School and holds an Honorary Doctorate from the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece.
