1970年5月生,1987年,馮丹以高分考入原華中理工大學(xué)(現(xiàn)華中科技大學(xué))計算機系。碩士畢業(yè)后,被保送攻讀博士,師從張江陵。

2017年12月,當(dāng)選中國民主同盟第十二屆中央委員會委員。
研究方向
計算機系統(tǒng)結(jié)構(gòu)、計算機網(wǎng)絡(luò)、并行處理、容錯理論、磁盤陣列體系結(jié)構(gòu)、計算機外存儲系統(tǒng)。目前正在從事以海量信息存儲系統(tǒng)及其應(yīng)用為主的項目研究工作。

科研成果
馮丹教授參加國家自然科學(xué)重點基金、國防科研預(yù)研等項目的研究,曾獲國家自然科學(xué)四等獎一項,國家技術(shù)發(fā)明二等獎一項,國際存儲競賽決賽獎一項,省部一等獎三項。所寫博士論文被國家學(xué)位委員會和教育部評為2001年全國優(yōu)秀博士論文。馮丹教授入選教育部“新世紀(jì)優(yōu)秀人才支持計劃”,入選“百千萬人才工程”國家級人選。擔(dān)任973項目“下一代互聯(lián)網(wǎng)信息存儲組織模式與核心技術(shù)研究”首席科學(xué)家。
馮丹教授已承擔(dān)完成包括973、國家自然科學(xué)基金、全國百篇優(yōu)秀博士論文專項基金、CNGI項目、預(yù)研項目等多個項目的研究工作,取得多項成果。在國內(nèi)外重要學(xué)術(shù)刊物及學(xué)術(shù)會議上發(fā)表有關(guān)學(xué)術(shù)論文125篇,合著專著1部、編著1部。申報32項國家發(fā)明專利,已有15項獲得授權(quán)。獲得10項軟件著作版權(quán)。
