Professor Cheng Jianhua was graduated from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, with M.A. and M. Phil. in Buddhist studies. He received his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Nagarjunau2019s philosophical studies. He joined the Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1997, and currently works as Professor at the Department of Oriental Philosophical Studies, Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He was a visiting scholar at Harvard University, USA from 2005 to 2007. His academic fields of specialty include Theravada Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism, and both in comparative studies. He has been taking great interest in the history and development of Nagarjunau2019s philosophy, and its influence towards the Chinese Buddhism. He has completed a book on a study of Buddhist philosophy and published a number of articles on Buddhist history, philosophy and ethics. He is currently writing a book on philosophy of the Three-treatise School of China.
