Whennotinthefield,Jefflecturesonwildlife,ecologyandconservationtoaudiencesacrosstheUnitedStates.JeffalsoestablishedaninteractivemuseumandenvironmentaleducationcentercalledtheEcoZone.BasedinNorwell,Mass.,thetownwhereJeffspenthischildhood,thegoaloftheEcoZoneistobuildawarenessforthewildlifeandecologyuniquetothewetlandsofsoutheasternMassachusetts.

Nowanexpertinrainforestanimals,Jeffwasfirstintroducedtothetropicalrainforestsin1984,whileonanexpeditiontoBelize.Theexperiencefueledhisinterestinthestudyandconservationoftheseecologicalmarvels.In1993,JeffaddressedtheGeneralAssemblyoftheUnitedNationsregardingtheneedtoconserveneotropicalrainforests.By1994,JeffhadservedasexpeditionnaturalistforTHEJASONPROJECT,theacclaimeddocumentaryseriesproducedbyNationalGeographicandEDSunderthedirectionofRobertBallard.

JeffhasbachelorofsciencedegreesinbiologyandanthropologyfromBridgewaterStateCollege,andamasterofsciencedegreeinwildlifeandfisheriesconservationfromtheUniversityofMassachusettsatAmherst.In1999,BridgewaterStateCollegehonoredJeffwithadoctorateinpubliceducationforhisworkincommunicatingabouttheneedforasustainableapproachtousingnaturalresourcesandtheimportanceofconservingendangeredspecies.Jefffirmlybelievesthatthrougheducationandawareness,thenaturalresources,wildlifeandecosystemsthatmakeupourplanetwillbeconservedforfuturegenerations.
