盧公明（Justus Doolittle，1824年6月23日－1880年6月15日），
生平
1824年6月23日盧公明出生于美國(guó)紐約州一個(gè)名為Rutland的小鎮(zhèn)
1846年畢業(yè)于漢密爾頓學(xué)院（HamiltonCollege）
1849年畢業(yè)于奧本神學(xué)院（AuburnTheologicalSeminary）。
1849年11月26日，盧公明受公理會(huì)指派，攜妻由波士頓港口出發(fā)，歷時(shí)186天，于次年5月31日抵達(dá)福州，開(kāi)始了在華廿余年的傳教生涯。在福州，盧公明先后創(chuàng)辦了格致書(shū)院（福州第五中學(xué)的前身）及文山女中（福州第八中學(xué)的前身）。
1864年，盧公明返美修養(yǎng)。
1872年，他回到中國(guó)上海，于美北長(zhǎng)老會(huì)差會(huì)服侍，不過(guò)因?yàn)榻】翟蚝芸煊只貒?guó)。
1880年6月15日，盧公明病逝于美國(guó)紐約州Clinton。
著作
盧公明是一位目光敏銳犀利的文化洞察者，一生著述頗豐。1865年在美國(guó)養(yǎng)病期間，盧公明根據(jù)其在榕十余年的見(jiàn)聞，在美國(guó)整理出版了著名的《SocialLifeoftheChinese》（中譯《中國(guó)人的社會(huì)生活》，ISBN9787211058495）一書(shū)。原書(shū)分上下卷，從政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、民間信仰、習(xí)俗、宗教、教育等多個(gè)視角，極為翔實(shí)地對(duì)清末的福州社會(huì)進(jìn)行觀察與描述。
