通過(guò)對(duì)芍藥科(特別是芍藥屬牡丹組)物種遺傳分析,揭示物種之間、同一物種不同居群之間的遺傳關(guān)系,分析居群的擴(kuò)展方向和路線。在此基礎(chǔ)上分析栽培牡丹的起源、相互關(guān)系以及遺傳特征圖譜,為品種鑒定和遺傳育種提供科學(xué)依據(jù)。同時(shí),利用滇牡丹遺傳多樣性比較豐富的特點(diǎn),研究滇牡丹的克隆生長(zhǎng)特點(diǎn)和花色多態(tài)性的分子機(jī)理,進(jìn)一步了解形態(tài)多樣性的遺傳基礎(chǔ)。另外,通過(guò)國(guó)際合作,在全世界范圍收集蓮科植物的材料,用高靈敏度的分子標(biāo)記分析不同地點(diǎn)的蓮的來(lái)源、遷移路線、太平洋兩岸不同物種的群體的現(xiàn)代分化特點(diǎn),探討東亞——北美間斷分布植物類群的成因。他還利用DNA序列信息為每種植物設(shè)計(jì)特有的條形碼,建立植物材料的快速準(zhǔn)確鑒定體系。
