人物經(jīng)歷
1989年獲博士學位后留南開大學高分子所任講師，1992年晉升為副教授，1996年晉升為教授。2000年7月，任南開大學化學院副院長，高分子所所長。
2000年入選教育部跨世紀優(yōu)秀青年培養(yǎng)計劃,天津市“131”工程第一層次培養(yǎng)計劃。
現(xiàn)任南開大學化學院副院長，高分子所所長，民盟天津市委副主任委員，國家基金委材料學部評審委員，天津市重大科技攻關項目、產(chǎn)業(yè)化項目評審專家。
2017年6月，民盟天津市第十一屆委會召開第一次全體會議，選舉袁直為副主任委員。
研究方向
1、吸附分離材料的結(jié)構(gòu)設計及吸附機制研究
2、納米肝靶向給藥系統(tǒng)研究
3、誘導抗凝血生物化表面的設計和構(gòu)建
