在“Ann. Statistics”, “Ann. Probability”,“J. Multivariate Analysis (JMA) ”, “IEEE Trans. ASSP” 以及《中國(guó)科學(xué)》等國(guó)內(nèi)外學(xué)術(shù)刊物發(fā)表論文140余篇, 合作出版的專著有《線性模型參數(shù)的估計(jì)理論》 (科學(xué)出版社)和《線性模型中的M方法》(上海科學(xué)技術(shù)出版社). 參加過(guò)國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金八五、九五兩個(gè)重點(diǎn)項(xiàng)目,多次主持國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金和教育部博士點(diǎn)基金研究項(xiàng)目. 和合作者在信號(hào)數(shù)目檢測(cè)的隨機(jī)效應(yīng)模型中,提出了模型選擇的一個(gè)新準(zhǔn)則(見JMA, 1986, Vol.20,1-25及26-49), 已得到SCI的120多個(gè)引用以及美國(guó)物理科學(xué)技術(shù)百科全書的引用,在U-統(tǒng)計(jì)量,密度估計(jì),非參數(shù)回歸等方面的工作,得到了美國(guó)統(tǒng)計(jì)科學(xué)百科全書及若干專著和文章的多次引用. 與陳希孺院士合作,1990年以“關(guān)于非參數(shù)統(tǒng)計(jì)的若干問題”獲中國(guó)科學(xué)院自然科學(xué)獎(jiǎng)二等獎(jiǎng),1991年該項(xiàng)目又獲國(guó)家自然科學(xué)獎(jiǎng)三等獎(jiǎng),1998年以“線性模型大樣本理論的研究”獲中國(guó)科學(xué)院自然科學(xué)獎(jiǎng)一等獎(jiǎng). 1991年被國(guó)家教委和國(guó)務(wù)院學(xué)位委員會(huì)授予“作出突出貢獻(xiàn)的中國(guó)博士學(xué)位獲得者”稱號(hào).
曾先后三次應(yīng)著名統(tǒng)計(jì)學(xué)家P. R. Krishnaiah教授和C. R. Rao教授的邀請(qǐng),到美國(guó)匹茨堡大學(xué)和賓州州立大學(xué)進(jìn)行長(zhǎng)達(dá)四年半的合作研究,應(yīng)邀訪問過(guò)美、加多所著名大學(xué), 并三次訪問臺(tái)灣中央研究院統(tǒng)計(jì)研究所,以及巴西利亞大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系,香港中文大學(xué)統(tǒng)計(jì)系等.
