1994年于武漢大學環(huán)境科學系獲學士學位，2002年7月于南開大學化學系獲碩士學位，2006年8月于香港大學化學系獲博士學位；2006年9月至2008年8月于香港大學化學系任協(xié)作研究員，2008年8月-2010年12月于香港大學做博士后研究。

孫慧曾主持香港大學博士后基金一項，作為主要研究人員，參與多項香港特別行政區(qū)創(chuàng)新科技基金、廣東-香港技術(shù)合作基金、香港大學基礎(chǔ)研究種子基金以及香港大學應用研究種子基金的科研工作。特別是2006年8月至2010年12月在香港大學做協(xié)作研究員和博士后研究期間，完成了香港特別行政區(qū)創(chuàng)新科技基金(ITS/108/06)項目，開發(fā)研制出了用于檢測/鑒別食品、飲料中致味物質(zhì)的“電子舌”微流控系統(tǒng)，該研究成果參加香港科技展覽時，受到香港媒體的廣泛關(guān)注，正申請美國專利。同時，主持完成了一項香港大學基金項目：基于分子印跡和微流控技術(shù)的壓電傳感器在環(huán)境和臨床醫(yī)學中的應用。參加國際會議20次，做口頭報告5次，曾參與Encyclopedia of Sensors 著作編寫，并在Biosens. Bioelectro., Electrophoresis，J. Chromatogr. A，Analyst，Sens. Actuat. B, Anal. Chim. Acta, Encyclop. Sens., Chem. Sens.等雜志上發(fā)表研究性論文近30篇。

曾主持國家自然科學基金2項，教育部重點科學技術(shù)1項，廣東省自然科學基金1項，廣州市科技計劃項目1項，香港大學博士后基金1項。
