1998年3月畢業(yè)于中國科學(xué)院計算技術(shù)研究所，獲博士學(xué)位。

1998年5月至2000年4月在中國科學(xué)院自動化研究所從事博士后研究。

2000年4月博士后出站后留在自動化所模式識別國家重點實驗室工作。

1999年和2001年兩次在日本國際電氣通信基礎(chǔ)技術(shù)研究所(ATR)做客座研究員。

2004年在法國格勒諾布爾(Grenoble)信息與應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)研究院(IMAG)做短期高訪。同年開始在中國科學(xué)院研究生院（現(xiàn)為中國科學(xué)院大學(xué)）開設(shè)《自然語言理解》課程（2016年更名為《自然語言處理》）。

2013年至2014年獲得中國科學(xué)院大學(xué)“精品數(shù)字課程”項目的資助。

自然語言處理理論與方法，機器翻譯，文本數(shù)據(jù)挖掘，人機對話系統(tǒng)。

2013年1月至今，國際計算語言學(xué)委員會(ICCL)委員；

2014年1月至2015年12月，國際計算語言學(xué)學(xué)會(ACL)漢語特別興趣組主席；

2017年1月至2018年12月，亞洲自然語言處理聯(lián)合會(AFNLP)副主席；

2015年1月至2016年12月，亞洲自然語言處理聯(lián)合會(AFNLP)秘書長；

2016年12月至今，中國中文信息學(xué)會副理事長、機器翻譯專委會副主任；

作為負責人主持國家自然科學(xué)基金項目、國家“863”計劃項目、支撐計劃項目和國際合作研究項目等10余項，并完成若干國家特定領(lǐng)域的應(yīng)用開發(fā)項目。發(fā)表學(xué)術(shù)論文150余篇，其中，在國際權(quán)威期刊和一流學(xué)術(shù)會議上發(fā)表論文60余篇；出版學(xué)術(shù)專著一部、譯著一部。獲得國家發(fā)明專利10余項。他指導(dǎo)開發(fā)的多語言機器翻譯系統(tǒng)多次在國際和全國機器翻譯評測中取得第一名的優(yōu)異成績，并成功應(yīng)用于多個國家特定領(lǐng)域。

2008年獲中國科學(xué)院研究生院集中教學(xué)突出貢獻獎。

2009年獲第23屆亞太地區(qū)語言、信息與計算國際會議（PACLIC）最佳論文獎。

2010年獲中國科學(xué)院“李月華優(yōu)秀教師”獎。

2013年獲國務(wù)院政府特殊津貼。

2014年獲“錢偉長中文信息處理科學(xué)技術(shù)獎”一等獎和中國電子學(xué)會科技進步獎一等獎。
