    1989年獲澳大利亞阿德雷德大學(xué)地球化學(xué)專業(yè)碩士學(xué)位;1992年獲澳大利亞國(guó)立大學(xué)地球化學(xué)專業(yè)博士學(xué)位,F(xiàn)任澳大利亞昆士蘭大學(xué)地學(xué)院終身教授,放射性成因同位素實(shí)驗(yàn)室主任。長(zhǎng)期從事同位素地球化學(xué)和年代學(xué)研究,研究興趣觸及巖石地球化學(xué)、前寒武紀(jì)殼幔演化,第四紀(jì)年代學(xué)(尤其在鈾系測(cè)年方面)、古氣候?qū)W、地質(zhì)災(zāi)害學(xué),和科技考古學(xué)等領(lǐng)域;承擔(dān)科研項(xiàng)目30余項(xiàng);培養(yǎng)博士研究生和博士后30余人;在國(guó)際SCI刊物上發(fā)表論文120多篇,被引用~2000次,h-指數(shù)為26。他和他所領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的團(tuán)隊(duì)共有十多項(xiàng)研究成果被國(guó)際媒體廣泛報(bào)道。 1998年獲澳大利亞“伊麗莎白女王特聘研究員”職稱,2001年獲國(guó)家基金委“海外杰青”,2011年獲代表澳大利亞學(xué)術(shù)界最高榮譽(yù)的“尤里卡”杰出導(dǎo)師獎(jiǎng)。過(guò)去10多年來(lái)趙建新教授致力于和國(guó)內(nèi)同行開展跨學(xué)科領(lǐng)域的全方位合作,他所負(fù)責(zé)的昆士蘭大學(xué)放射性成因同位素實(shí)驗(yàn)室和承擔(dān)的ARC等研究課題已為國(guó)內(nèi)眾多合作者免費(fèi)提供了價(jià)值數(shù)十萬(wàn)澳元的分析測(cè)試數(shù)據(jù)和大約70萬(wàn)澳元的項(xiàng)目研究員工資或訪問(wèn)學(xué)者生活津貼,在國(guó)內(nèi)至今尚沒(méi)有質(zhì)譜鈾系測(cè)年實(shí)驗(yàn)室的情況下,為國(guó)內(nèi)數(shù)個(gè)重要學(xué)科領(lǐng)域提供了不可多得的技術(shù)支撐。
