Maybe this is the reason, that Helcke was throughout his live interested to use ships and harbor silences as subject matters for his paintings. The special effects on light and shadow made his paintings famous all over the country today many works are beautifully preserved. They can be seen in important museums, such as the “Victoria And Albert-Museum” in London.
