廣東潮州人。1943年生。已故香港超級富豪包玉剛的第四個女婿。1963年赴美留學(xué)，獲威斯康辛大學(xué)醫(yī)學(xué)博士學(xué)位，曾任康乃爾大學(xué)助教、教授，專門從事癌癥研究與治療。還擔(dān)任世界癌癥醫(yī)療組織總裁，又獲紐約癌癥專科紀(jì)念醫(yī)院院士。1989年返港，出任環(huán)球集團投資公司常務(wù)董事、總經(jīng)理，掌管該集團在美國的債券、股票和現(xiàn)金等。成為包氏家族的財務(wù)總管。1992年被聘為香港事務(wù)顧問。
人物生平
鄭維健先生生于一九四三年，鄭博士肄業(yè)于美國圣母院大學(xué)及威斯康辛醫(yī)學(xué)院，畢業(yè)后曾在康乃爾大學(xué)擔(dān)任醫(yī)學(xué)教授，并曾在紐約著名的斯隆-凱特林癌病中心(Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center)行醫(yī)、教學(xué)及從事研究工作。鄭博士曾擔(dān)任香港大學(xué)教育資助委員會主席及教育統(tǒng)籌委員會委員，鄭博士現(xiàn)為香港中文大學(xué)校董會主席。除在學(xué)術(shù)領(lǐng)域外，鄭博士現(xiàn)為環(huán)球（香港）投資有限公司主席。鄭博士在財經(jīng)界曾任多項要職，包括恒生銀行副主席及非執(zhí)行董事、香港聯(lián)合交易所主席、國際證券交易所聯(lián)會副會長、香港證券學(xué)院創(chuàng)會主席、研究成立財經(jīng)學(xué)院可行性的督導(dǎo)委員會主席、香港期貨交易所有限公司董事、世界大企業(yè)聯(lián)合會國際顧問委員會委員及香港渣打銀行獨立非執(zhí)行董事。鄭博士現(xiàn)為香港金融研究中心董事、美國友邦保險（百慕達）有限公司獨立非執(zhí)行董事及瑞安房地產(chǎn)獨立非執(zhí)行董事。鄭博士也參與其它香港的公共服務(wù)，曾于一九九九年至二零零一年期間出任香港特別行政區(qū)中央政策組首席顧問、大珠江三角洲商務(wù)委員會委員及策略發(fā)展委員會委員。鄭博士現(xiàn)為可持續(xù)發(fā)展委員會主席及司法人員推薦委員會委員。鄭博士一直積極參與內(nèi)地與其它香港之間的事務(wù)。

他曾獲中國政府委任為港事顧問（一九九一至一九九七年），全國人民代表大會香港特別行政區(qū)籌備委員會成員，以及香港特區(qū)第一屆政府推選委員會成員（一九九六至一九九七年）。鄭博士現(xiàn)為中國人民政治協(xié)商會議第十一屆全國委員會委員。鄭博士于二零零六年五月二十四日獲委任為本公司獨立非執(zhí)行董事。
Edgar W. K. Cheng
Edgar W. K. Cheng was a graduate from the University of Notre Dame and the Medical College of Wisconsin, USA. He was Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Cornell University Medical College and practiced medicine and conducted clinical research at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York. Dr. Cheng was a former Chairman of the University Grants Commission in Hong Kong, and a member of the Education Commission. He is at present the Chairman of the Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. In addition to his academic experience, Dr. Cheng is currently the Chairman of the World-Wide Investment Co. Ltd. and has been in many other financial market positions such as Chairman of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, Vice-Chairman and non-executive director of the Hang Seng Bank Ltd., Vice President of the International Federation of Stock Exchange, Founding Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities Institute, Member of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Futures Exchange Ltd., Member of the Conference Boardu2019s Global Advisory Council and an independent non-executive director of the Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Ltd. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research, an independent non-executive director of American International Assurance Co. Ltd. and an independent non-executive director of Shui On Land Limited. In his other public service capacity, Dr. Cheng served as the Head of the Central Policy Unit of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from 1999 to 2001. He was a member of the Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council and a member of the Commission on Strategic Development. He is currently Chairman of the Council for Sustainable Development and a member of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission. Dr. Cheng also plays an active role in Hong Kong-China affairs. He was appointed by the Chinese Government as a Hong Kong Affairs Advisor (1991-1997). He became a Member of the Preparatory Committee and also the Selection Committee for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the National Peopleu2019s Congress (1996-1997). At present, he is a member of the 11th Chinese Peopleu2019s Political Non-executive Director with effect from May 24, 2006.
