人物經(jīng)歷
1978年9月-1982年7月，原 武漢地質(zhì)學院地層古生物學專業(yè)本科學習，獲學士學位。
1982年9月-1985年7月， 中國地質(zhì)大學（武漢）古生物學和地層學專業(yè)研究生學習，獲碩士學位。
1987年9月-1991年12月，中國地質(zhì)大學（武漢） 古生物學和 地層學專業(yè)在職博士研究生學習，獲理學博士學位。
1985年7月至今，中國地質(zhì)大學（武漢）任教（1996年12月在原地質(zhì)礦產(chǎn)部破格晉升為教授，1999年12月評為博士生導師）。
1994年10月-12月，1997年11月-1998年1月，1998年11月-1999年2月分別在美國Smithsonian研究所、澳大利亞Deakin大學和美國Arizona大學進行科學訪問和合作研究。
現(xiàn)任國際地層委員會三疊系分會選舉委員、國際地質(zhì)對比規(guī)劃IGCP-467項co-leader、 中國古生物學會常務理事、中國古生物學會教育與普及委員會副主任兼秘書長、全國地層委員會三疊系專業(yè)組和定量地層專業(yè)組委員。
長期致力于二疊系―三疊系界線地質(zhì)學和三疊紀地層學和古生物學方面的研究工作，主攻二疊系―三疊系界線和下三疊統(tǒng)印度階―奧倫尼克階界線層型（“金釘子”）及古生代末大滅絕后三疊紀初的生態(tài)系復蘇。已發(fā)表科研論文80余篇，15篇論文被SCI收錄，出版專著和主編文集7部，在國外出版專著2部。獲國家自然科學二等獎1項、湖北省自然科學一等獎2項、國土資源部科技一等獎1項。
